Air travel has boomed in Denver, with 2017 being Denver International Airport’s (DIA) busiest year ever, with more than 60 million passengers flying through. The only problem is that DIA was not meant to handle this volume, leading to the major renovations underway to the Great Hall and other sections in a $1.8 billion contract. Additionally, 39 new gates will open up on existing concourses, expanding the airport capacity to 80 million passengers a year, a 30 million passenger raise from its original size.
