DENVER — SIDE STORIES, an immersive and innovative cinematic experience on Denver’s urban exterior, returns to the metro area with a special summer installment at The Dairy Block August 1 – August 8.
During the large-format digital film installation, original short works from eight Colorado artists will be projected onto a large statement wall in the venue’s alleyway and beneath the iconic mirrored overpass, creating a unique, interactive experience for visitors.
Two spaces will be illuminated with film throughout the eight-day event. Each night at 7 p.m., a featured film by one of the eight artists will be projected onto the CTRL Collective bridge window facing Poka Lola Social Club.
August 1 — Ella Vance “Golden Afternoon”
August 2 — Daniel Fickle “Red Light”
August 3 — Lares Feliciano “Full Color Colorado”
August 4 — Brian Fouhy “Goodnight Denver”
August 5 — Brendan Young “Hands”
August 6 — Studio Hippo “Life’s Constant: Change”
August 7 — Kendra Fleischman “Triticum Dream”
August 8 — Chris Sessions “La Familia Charra”
Additionally, all eight films will be projected on a loop underneath the mirrored tunnel from 11AM – 11PM throughout the run of the event to allow viewers to immerse themselves into the art for a one-of-a-kind interactive film experience. The works were originally commissioned for Side Stories // RiNo which took place in RiNo Art District in March 2019.
“This kind of urban projection installation is current and captivating,” said Mariel Rodriguez-McGill, deputy film commissioner at the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media. “It blends our city’s physical landscape, art, energy, commerce and community in a thoughtfully interactive medium.”
SIDE STORIES is a free-to-the-public projection-mapping initiative that showcases local Colorado artists, enriches neighborhoods, inspires exploration and creates unique viewing experiences.
The Dairy Block is hosting a kick-off artist meet and greet from 6PM – 8PM on Thursday, August 1st at Blanchard Family Wines. The first glass of wine is on Dairy Block.
