The Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network today announced that Aikta Marcoulier, executive director of the Colorado Springs SBDC, is the recipient of the 2013 America’s SBDC (ASBDC) State Star for Colorado. Marcoulier will be recognized at a private reception during the ASBDC Conference in Orlando this week.
Each year, the ASBDC recognizes a State Star from each SBDC at its annual conference. The State Star award is given out to an SBDC employee who exhibits exemplary performance, makes a significant contribution to his or her SBDC program and shows a strong commitment to small business. Any SBDC employee is eligible for the award.
“Although Aikta has only been directing the Colorado Springs SBDC for a little over a year, she has brought the center to a whole new level and has risen to the top of the network through her tireless efforts to help small businesses,” said Kelly Manning, state director of the Colorado SBDC. “Aikta’s work with businesses affected by the recent wildfires, combined with her initiative to form strategic partnerships in the community while building her consulting team, has made her deserving of this award. She is a team player who is always willing and able to step-up to any challenge presented to her.”
The Colorado SBDC Network has 14 full-time centers and more than 70 part-time centers that provide free consulting and no- or low-cost training to entrepreneurs across the state. For more information on SBDC services, visit www.coloradosbdc.org.
