After Denver hired homeless people to shovel mulch and perform other day labor, more than 100 landed regular jobs

The Denver Day Works program, initially launched in 2016 to provide homeless people with day work, has helped 110 participants find full-time work afterwards. The program, run by Bayaud Enterprises, will expand from a three day work week to a five day work week later this year, allowing an increase in capacity to reduce the waitlist, where participants earn more than $12 an hour. While Denver Day Works is not going to solve homelessness in Denver in a day, it has promising results, helping connect participants with housing providers and public-assistance programs.
