OEDIT awards export grants to eight Colorado companies to attend 2017 ISPO Munich Trade Show

Colorado Pavilion to Promote State’s Thriving Outdoor Recreation

DENVER ­— Tues. Jan. 31, 2017— The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) awarded export grants to eight Colorado outdoor recreation companies to support their attendance at the 2017 ISPO Munich trade show. ISPO is the world’s leading trade show for businesses of action, outdoor, performance and traditional sports and will take place in Munich, Germany from Feb. 5-8, 2017.

The grants are provided through the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP), administered by OEDIT. Funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), STEP provides grant awards to small and medium-sized businesses to offset global business and export development activities. A total of $25,500 was awarded through for ISPO.

OEDIT’s support will allow the companies to connect with foreign buyers and increase their presence in the European market, resulting in export sales and job creation and retention in Colorado.

The grant recipients represent Colorado’s healthy outdoor lifestyle and year-round recreational opportunities, from skiing to hiking and biking. The companies also embody Colorado’s innovative business culture, which is constantly breeding new technologies and high-performance products.

The following companies received OEDIT’s export grant for the 2017 ISPO Munich show:

  • Cirque Mountain Apparel (Avon)
  • Krimson & Klover (Boulder)
  • Flylow Gear (Denver)
  • Apex Ski Boots (Golden)
  • Icelantic Skis (Golden)
  • Weston Snowboards (Minturn)
  • Point6 LLC (Steamboat Springs)
  • Seismic Skate Systems, Inc. (Boulder)

The state is also sponsoring a Colorado Pavilion at ISPO to promote Colorado’s thriving outdoor industry that will showcase six Colorado companies. The Colorado Pavilion will be located at Hall A6, Booth 424.  A total of 21 Colorado companies will be present at ISPO promoting their products from standup paddle boards to outdoor apparel. “Colorado is a natural fit for ISPO, as the state is home to a growing outdoor recreation manufacturing industry, which includes internationally recognized brands along with a host of entrepreneurial startups,” said Luis Benitez, director of the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office. “Outdoor recreation generates $34 billion in annual economic activity in Colorado and it’s only expected to grow.”

ISPO Munich offers the latest products, trends and innovations from the entire outdoor sports industry. The show features more than 2,700 international exhibitors, and 80,000 visitors from over 110 countries.  Featured sports include alpine skiing, camping, climbing, fishing, mountain biking, running and snowboarding.
