License to practice medicine issued for 2 years; all licenses expire May 31st. of odd numbered years. No probation.
Requirements for licenses for MD’s and DO’s: Graduation from an approved medical school. One year postgraduate training. (U.S. and Canadian graduates) Pass examination (FLEX, National Boards or state written or LMCC or USMLE)
All physicians participating in an internship, residency or fellowship, are required to hold a Physician Training License or an Active Colorado Medical License. Training Licenses are renewable every 3 years.

Physician Assistants (PAs) are also licensed by the Medical Board and work under the supervision of a physician. Licenses expire January 31 of even numbered years.

Fees: (no prorating of fees) Fees subject to change each fiscal year.
X-Ray Technicians are not licensed by the State of Colorado. Howver, the Board has a rule regarding regulation of x-ray technicians working in physicians’ offices outside of a hospital setting.

No registration or certification is required for supervised non-physician health care providers.The Medical Practice Act allows physicians to delegate any medical task (except prescribing) to persons who are appropriately qualified to carry out the task by virtue of experience, education or training. Any person so delegated a medical task must be under the personal, responsible direction and supervision of a Colorado licensed physician. These parties are not allowed to practice independently and may not prescribe medications.
